Coach Lamont says: "The organs are gone. The nerves are gone. The skeleton has collapsed. What remains is the CORE — consciousness and one piece of scaffolding. In the hollow body, every step matters because there are no pieces left to compensate for errors. This is where real skill lives — the body stripped to its essence."

Part 1: The Hollow Body Doctrine

BODY DOCTRINE: In the hollow body, precision is the only armor When all pieces are traded and only Kings + a pawn remain, CHIMERA calls this the hollow body. No organs to hide behind. No nerves to redirect attacks. Just consciousness (King) and one piece of scaffolding (pawn). One wrong step and the scaffolding collapses.

Part 2: The Opposition — Two Consciousnesses Facing

The Still Breath Between Kings

The body: Two conscious bodies face each other across one empty square. Neither attacks. Neither retreats. Whichever one must MOVE FIRST loses the ground — the other steps into it and claims the promotion path.

Why it's deep: This is the PUREST form of zugzwang. No threats. No attacks. Just pressure through stillness. The body that can wait the longest wins.

Part 3: Key Squares — The Promotion Landing

The Three Final Cells

The body: Two ranks ahead of your scaffolding are three cells that matter. If your consciousness (King) lands on ANY of them, the scaffolding mutates into consciousness itself — promotion. The body grows from bare core to renewed power.

Why it's deep: The hollow body doesn't fight for every square — only these three. Everything else is noise. Deep endgame players see ONLY the key squares.

Part 4: Triangulation — The Body Circles Back

Losing Time on Purpose

The body: Your consciousness walks a tiny triangle — three cells — and returns to the starting position. But now the OPPONENT must move. You have passed time without advancing. In chess this is called triangulation. In the body doctrine, it is the art of breathing in a circle.

Why it's deep: Only consciousness can breathe in circles. Scaffolding (pawns) can only go forward. This asymmetry is what lets the conscious body force zugzwang.

Part 5: The Rule of the Square — Counting the Body's Reach

Can the Consciousness Catch the Scaffolding?

The body: An enemy scaffolding piece races toward mutation (promotion). Draw an imaginary square from the scaffolding to its landing rank. If your consciousness can step INSIDE that square this turn, you catch it. If not, the scaffolding becomes new consciousness and you are lost.

Why it's deep: No calculation needed — pure geometry. Deep players glance once and KNOW whether the race is winnable.

Part 6: Vocabulary — The Hollow Body

Opposition (body: the still breath)
Two Kings one square apart, facing. Whoever moves loses ground.
Key Square (body: the promotion cell)
Three cells two ranks ahead of the pawn. Consciousness must land on one for mutation.
Triangulation (body: the breath that circles back)
King walks in a triangle to pass time. Only consciousness can do this — not scaffolding.
Zugzwang (body: the poisoned move)
Every available move damages the body, but movement is compulsory.
Outside Passed Pawn (body: decoy scaffolding)
A scaffolding piece far from the main body. The opponent chases it — your true consciousness eats the other side.

Part 7: Test Your Understanding

Section A: True or False

1. In the hollow body, tactics save the day.
2. Key squares are three cells two ranks ahead of the pawn.
3. Only consciousness (King) can triangulate — not scaffolding (pawn).
4. Opposition is a form of stillness that forces the opponent to move.
5. An outside passer is decoy scaffolding.

Section B: Fill in the Blank

6. The hollow body wins through , not tactics.
7. Two Kings facing across one empty square have .
8. When consciousness reaches a key square, scaffolding .

Section C: Multiple Choice

9. What does CHIMERA call the hollow body?
10. Why is triangulation deep?

Part 8: Body Reflection

Body Check: Set up 10 hollow-body positions (K+P vs K) and play them. Force yourself to use opposition and triangulation. Notice how different this feels from the full body — every breath is visible, every step decides.
CS Bridge: The hollow body is chess reduced to its base case — the termination condition of a recursive program. Mastering base cases is how good engineers write code that survives edge cases. Master the hollow body and you survive chess's edge cases too.
Coach Lamont says: "The hollow body teaches that when you've lost everything, what's LEFT is who you really are. No fancy organs. No loud nerves. Just your core. Train your core NOW, before you need it. The hollow body reveals what the full body hid."
11. What is YOUR 'core' — the part of you that remains when everything else strips away? What would others see if your body was hollow?
